The School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was established in 2017 as a teaching and research unit directly under Shandong University. Located at the Qingdao Campus of Shandong University, the school is progressing in close collaboration with the University of Cambridge.Its primary objective is to pioneer theoretical research in innovation transformation, nurture talent crucial for national innovation, establish exemplary practical platforms, and elevate Shandong University's global prominence in innovation transformation.
The school consistentlyhighlightspractical innovation transformation, continually deepening collaboration with the University of Cambridge, and implementing the "1+1+X" development strategy. Building upon comprehensive and high-quality cooperation with the University of Cambridge, an open collaboration platform is being established to deepen partnerships with government, enterprises, and top domestic and international universities. Adhering to the development philosophy of "small yet refined" and "prestigious", the school aims to maintain a compact scale of both the institution and its faculty and students, while constructing an internationally influential, high-level faculty team. It aims to cultivate high-caliber talents with international competitiveness, lead high-level scientific research to drive disciplinary development, serve national and regional economic development with high-quality services, and address fundamental issues in innovation transformation within human society. Emphasizing "internationalization" and "interdisciplinary integration" as developmental characteristics, theschool is striving across discipline construction, scientific research, personnel training and international cooperation. It aims to gradually become a leading domestic and internationally renowned institution with distinctive advantages in science, technology, and business.
The School currently has 22 research and teaching faculty members, including 1 chair professor, 4 professors, 11 associate professors, 4 lecturers, and 2 adjunct professors. It has a Master's degree program inTechnologicalEconomics and Management and is in the process of applying for undergraduate programs. The student body comprises over 350 students, including academic Master's students, international students, and MBA students.The research team of the School focuses on four directions: case studies and practical experiences, international practices, classic theories, and specific fields. This includes research on summarizing experiences and case studies in innovation transformation practices,focusing onthe latest business practices; exploring theories and practices of international innovation transformation while highlighting the localization of international cutting-edge theories; conducting theoretical research on innovation transformation based on business theories; and researching innovation transformation based on technological characteristics in science and engineering.Theschool actively contributes to the practice of outcome transfer and transformation and social services. It currently operates the Shandong University (Qingdao) International Innovation Park and the Linyi Innovation Transformation Research Institute. Through matching school scientific achievements with enterprise technical demands, it facilitates the transfer and transformation of scientific achievements, better serving regional economic development.
