Professor Mohammed Zaki of University of Cambridge Visits School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

From September 15 to 19 September,2025,Professor Mohammed Zaki of Department of Engineering,University of Cambridge and Deputy Director of Cambridge Service Alliance visited School of Innovation  and Entrepreneurship,Shandong University. He delivered a lecture to undergraduate students and discussed collaborative exchange initiatives with the School.

On the morning of September 16 September, Han Shenghao, Dean of School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, chaired a symposium. He provided Professor Zaki with a comprehensive overview of the School's progress in disciplinary development, student cultivation, international collaboration, and social service initiatives, while exploring avenues for future cooperation. Both parties reached a consensus to establish collaboration through Cambridge Service Alliance in talent cultivation, academic exchange, and social service. This partnership will connect with Chinese artificial intelligence enterprises and localized application scenarios, fostering academic research and industrial services driven by cutting-edge technological applications and industry demands, particularly in artificial intelligence.

On September 17, Professor Zaki delivered a lecture to students of School's Innovation and Transformation Management Experimental Class. Centring on the theme AI Applications in Service Experiences, he systematically elucidated how AI deployment will drive service management transformation and enhance customer service experiences. He also detailed Cambridge Service Alliance's value proposition and industrial linkage mechanisms. Professor Zaki's accessible and engaging presentation fostered a dynamic classroom atmosphere, deepening students' understanding of global AI trends and industrial applications while inspiring greater motivation to pursue innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer in the AI era. During his visit, Professor Zaki also conducted field research with faculty members at prominent Qingdao enterprises including Trieda and FAW-Volkswagen.

Mohammed Zaki is a Emeritus Professorat University of Cambridge, Deputy Director of Cambridge Service Alliance, and Editorial Board Member of Journal of Service Management. He has published over 100 papers in globally renowned academic journals, with research focusing on digital service transformation,particularly the application of artificial intelligence in customer experience design and management, as well as the development of novel data-driven business models.

The collaborative outcomes achieved between the Schooland Professor Zaki will advance substantive cooperation between Shandong University and University of Cambridge at the faculty level, effectively supporting Shandong University's endeavors to become a first-class university of the world.
